New blog, who dis

Oh hey there.

I've never written a blog post before but it's something that I have wanted to do, so here we are.

Here's my little introductory post. My blog will be free of any vampires, fae, and other creatures you might find in my books. (Of course, that's really what a vampire or fae would say, isn't it?)

I know I have an "About Me" section on my website, but I figured that if you are taking some time out of your lovely day to read these letters I have typed, then I shall provide you with more stuffs!

I mean, maybe some day there will be a trivia night at some restaurant or something on the super popular author, Arleta Rae... amirite?? And maybe this will be the only place you would get the answers to those question.

Hmm, but what to say?

....

For all my life I wanted to be a writer. When I was little, I remember writing a story for my parents about a ghost. I illustrated it and even bound it with string! In the early days of writing Rising Ember (which then was called Sun Kissed), I was handwriting the manuscript while mostly ignoring my geology professor in undergrad (if he ever asks though, I wholeheartedly listened to every word...).

I was a bit embarrassed to be writing a book for some reason, that when I began typing the manuscript and anyone would walk by my computer, I would switch screens. I didn't even tell anyone I was writing a book for like three years! I wish I could find the handwritten manuscript of Sun Kissed because I might share it. Or, maybe not, because it is probably sooo poorly written.

So yeah, I went to school for environmental studies but was writing a fantasy book during some of my classes (and like all of my geology classes LOL). I had no idea what I wanted to do with that degree. When Rising Ember came out in 2022 I was in my last semester of grad school, which I was going for a masters in ecopsychology. Again, not a field that aided me in writing. But I heard once that getting schooling outside of an english or writing focused degree is actually beneficial for authors! It gives us stuff to write about I guess. My love of nature will always be woven into my stories.

A sneak peek into what my future in writing might look like:

-I'm currently working on a prequel to Rising Ember that will follow Mica, a character Thea meets in Dark Inferno.

-I have a few story ideas involving fae.

-I have another story idea, possibly a duology or trilogy, that is set in the world of Rising Ember but takes place some time after that will introduce a new fantasy creature type! There will also be vampires of course.

-There will be a story with celestials!

-I have plans for a few LGBTQ books. In one, the main character will be human but in another story the main character might be something else--something involving a creature of the sea...

-And I have ideas about a story or two where the main character is a god/goddess.

And ta-da! My first blog fellow book dragons! I'll update you all on life occurrences, books I'm reading, and any other stuffs.

Thanks for being here!

xx
